![]() ![]() ![]() He gets married (though the weird absence of Eileen is never explained), raise a kid and die a happy man. Both had different ideas of what their happy ending would be and of the two, Sam saw himself living with a picket fence one day, not Dean, and it's nothing short of a miracle that he does get to live that life. Well, we have seen Dean without Sam, he has never been able to get on with life despite the countless promises he made to his brother but the younger Winchester always yearned for family life. There are also debates as to why it was Dean and not Sam who got killed. And after making it known throughout Supernatural how much he hates even the smell of a dog, Dean probably triggered an avalanche of "Aww"s when he woke up in the morning and cuddled with his new pet dog. Making it a bittersweet ending is all the nostalgic moments the episode packs- Dean finally getting to binge eat the elusive apple pie, make that pies, he always wanted to binge on but always got interrupted. What's more is the fact that this is the way Dean always wanted his story to end- to go out swinging, while saving people and killing monsters. And while the tragedy was indeed a little abrupt, as Dean himself points out, without the "plot armour" this is what the Winchesters' fate would have been years ago. The Dean who goes up against a superstrong vampire is not the one who is protected by Chuck's need for constant drama- he is a normal hunter who is overpowered by a monster immensely stronger than him. So, in the finale, no matter how badass the Winchesters are, they are just regular hunters who face deadly danger on a daily basis. But instead, he hops away to Heaven and Sam, sticking by the promise he made to his brother, gets on with his life. As Dean's death takes place halfway through the episode, many were still holding out hope that being buddies with the new God would mean that he is brought back to life. And fans have a lot to say about it and many are not in favour of how Supernatural brought about the death of its key character. So, yeah, after more than 300 episodes of facing countless monsters, demons, Hells, corrupt Angels, maniac Archangels, and even a murderous God himself, Dean Winchester dies because of a steel bar. Feeling life ebbing away from his body, Dean gives a moving heart-to-heart with Sam, echoing Iron Man's tragic death in Avengers: Endgame as Sam lets him know that it's okay for him to go. And for a second it feels like the Winchesters have it under control only for a juiced-up vamp to push Dean against a post with a rather sharp piece of rebar protruding from it, impaling him. They soon catch a new case- a nest of vampires killing families and abducting their kids. They are happy, if not entirely content with life. As Dean took his last breath, and as the remaining minutes of the episode continued, many took to social media to express their outrage, blasting the series and what they viewed as an unfitting ending. With Chuck gone, the boys are back to their hunting ways, but this time without a cruel Almighty navigating their story for his entertainment. His death sent shockwaves through the Supernatural fandom, who have spent years watching the Winchester brothers fight off evil and survive. ![]() Although he has survived dying and going to hell, and numerous other things in the past, this proved unsurvivable, and after delivering an emotional monologue, Dean succumbed to his injuries roughly halfway through the episode. As the Winchester brothers fought off the literal bloodsuckers, Dean (Jensen Ackles) was impaled on a piece of rebar sticking out of a wall during the fight. The show's final hour - its 327th episode in total - kicked off with a standard vampire hunt gone wrong. Warning: This post contained spoilers for Supernatural Season 15, Episode 20, "Carry On." The culmination of 15 seasons and dozens of episodes, "Carry On" proved to be an emotional rollercoaster that some viewers felt wasn't a deserving ending for the hit CW show, some so outraged that they even compared it to the much-hated Game of Thrones Series finale. Thursday night's Supernatural series finale left fans divided. ![]()
